At this 8.25 acre site with Seneca Lake views is a multi-year experiment interplanting various perennial edibles within a treescape which includes abundant black walnut. Flowering trees with varying bloom times have been made a planting priority to support wild pollinators and efforts are being made to support native flowering understory plants. Here is a view of some of our recently planted hazelnut trees awaiting spring weather.
Our 2019 plans include not just collecting and processing the black walnuts that grow on our land but also piloting a black walnut collection program initially serving the greater Penn Yan / Geneva area.
